| Chief John A. Mackay, who currently serves as Director at Large on our Board of Directors, recently retired as Chief of the Westerly Fire Department after 14 years in the position. Chief Mackay is a well-known figure in the Rhode Island fire service community, having served in roles such as Chief, Fire Marshal, Fire Instructor, and providing guidance to many across various aspects of the fire service. With over 45 years of service at the Westerly Fire Department, John has continually offered support to anyone in need.
Chief Steve Pinch, Chief of the Union Fire District of South Kingstown and Vice President of the Southern League, represented our organization at a retirement celebration for Chief Mackay, held at Venice Restaurant on Saturday night. During the event, Chief Pinch presented Chief Mackay with a clock to recognize his many years of dedicated service to our organization and the fire service community.
Chief Mackay will continue to remain actively involved as a member of our Board of Directors, as a volunteer with the Westerly Fire Department, as an instructor at the Fire Academy, and as the volunteer fire service representative to the Rhode Island Fire & Life Safety Code Board of Appeal & Review.
